The release of Netflix’s new series ‘The Fabulous,’ scheduled to be released on the 4th, has been postponed indefinitely.
On the 31st of last month, Netflix said, “Due to the national mourning for the unfortunate accident, we have decided to temporarily postpone the production presentation of ‘The Fabulous’ scheduled for November 2nd.”
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, ahead of Halloween, a massacre occurred in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 11 am on the 2nd, 156 people had died, and 172 were injured. Accordingly, the government has designated the national mourning period from the 30th of last month to the 5th of next month.
After that, it was decided to cancel the entertainment programs and some drama episodes aired on almost all channels during the national mourning period. However, Netflix did not set the timing for ‘The Fabulous’ and chose to ‘provisionally postpone’ indefinitely.
According to Spotify News on the 2nd, this is because ‘The Fabulous’ contains some scenes with Halloween festivals. Previously, the OST music video for ‘The Fabulous,’ released on the 28th of last month, also included a short aerial shot of the Halloween festival.
It is said that the scene was not inserted simply for spectacle but the emotional line necessary to understand the development of the drama. Therefore, the workflow may be interrupted if it is just edited. Furthermore, it is challenging to re-shoot because of the Netflix process; even subtitles for overseas distribution must be considered. Although the scene was filmed and edited before the disaster, it seems that Netflix made this decision in the end, feeling the national sentiment and the pain of the bereaved family.
Netflix’s new series ‘The Fabulous’ is a hyper-realistic romance depicting the dreams, love, and friendship of young people who have dedicated their lives to the fashion world, written as fashion and read as passion. Choi Min-ho and Chae Soo-bin will appear. Unfortunately, the release was temporarily postponed indefinitely due to a disaster that occurred a week before the scheduled release date.
